Dynamics 365 2020 Release Wave 2 - Rich Text Editor Control

Dynamics 365 2020 Release Wave 2 brings "Rich Text Editor Control" which can be configured directly for multi-line text fields.

Let us walk-through the configuration steps.

We have a field "Description" on "Lead" entity which is multi-line text field and comes up in system as shown below -

To configure Rich Text Editor navigate to change properties of "Description" field by clicking on "Change Properties" button.

In "Field Properties" Dialog, navigate to "Controls" tab, scroll down to find "Rich Text Editor Control" custom control, select control and click on "Add" button.

Now, enable the control for target platform, here we have enabled for all i.e Web, Phone and Tablet.

"Save" and "Publish" changes, our "Description" field on Lead form is now configured with "Rich Text Editor" as shown below:-

Dynamics 365 2020 Release Wave 2- Email Attachment Enhancements (Part 1)

Let us walk-through the changes introduced with Dynamics 365 2020 Release Wave 2 for email attachments.

Prior to 2020 Release Wave 2, we had only "Delete" option available for Email Attachments.

With Dynamics 365 Release 2020 Wave 2, we have following actions available

1. Preview (New)
2. Download (New)
3. Delete

When we click on “Preview” for image attachment, we can preview as below –

When we click on “Preview” for any PDF attachment, we see “No preview available” message as below–

For other attachment type like word or text file, preview option is not available.

Let us walk-through the changes introduced with Dynamics 365 2020 Release Wave 2 for email attachments.

Prior to 2020 Release Wave 2, when we clicked on "New Attachment" in Email Attachments Grid.

We use to see, "Choose File" dialog 

Upon click of "Choose File" button, we use to see File Dialog Box for file selection.

In Dynamics 365 2020 Release Wave 2, when we click on "New Attachment" in Email Attachments Grid, system opens up File Dialog Box directly, remove 1 extra step.

Dynamics 365 2020 Release Wave 2 - Enable Early Access Features

Step 1 – Go to Admin Center

https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com/

Step 2 – Click on Environments

Step 3 – Select the environment to activate early access to Dynamics 365 2020 Release Wave 2.

Step 4 – Click on “Manage” link in “Updates” section. 

Step 5 – Click on “Update Now” in the pop up window, and confirm installation.

Step 6 – Upon confirmation, installation will begin. 

We can track the progress in “Updates” section.

Installation Completed

Now our organization is ready with Dynamics 365 2020 Release Wave 2 early access features.
